1. Aussie Pride! We couldn't be MORE thrilled that one of Vampire Academy's biggest fan bases is represented by Lucy. That's right, Aussies, we love us some Richelle Mead and her amazing series is a big seller here and Lucy's role will give us an extra dash of Aussie pride when the movie hits cinemas.
2. The Ethereal Aussie. Again, not to harp on this Aussie factor, but we seem to specialise in those ethereal, classy, almost regal actresses. Think of Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, Mia Wasikowska, Cate Blanchett - they all possess that combination of frail yet tough as nails spirit that our Dragomir princess grows into.
3. Haters Going to Hate. The casting announcement was met with a pretty solid response but of course, the naysayers have spoken too. What's perfect is this is an almost identical process Lissa faces in the Vampire Academy world. Detractors constantly telling her she can't do it, she's not living up to the role and everyone talking about it. Lucy's got lots of ready made emotions to tap into.

I think she looks perfect for Lissa! She already looks like a princess!
ReplyDeleteHow about crediting the photographer of that reaction shot - me!! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat shot, "Priceless" reaction.
DeleteSorry, Marci - photo now credited. And thanks for getting such a great shot.
DeleteYou picked a horrible Lissa, I've stated all my reasons on the VA page. Lucy fry does not at all represent what Lissa should have been. While reading the novel, and awaiting it's arrival since the books literally came out, one of the FIRST FANS here, I imagined Lissa with SOFT features, in this segment, they name off a list of women, who are regal and royal looking, soft yet fierce, Lucy does not have that look, for one. Although Lissa becomes tough at the end of the novels, she still starts off this soft delicate flower that needs to be protected at all costs, Lucy does not demonstrate the soft qualities of Lissa. When I imagined her character I actually went through a list of actresses that I thought would be perfect for her. Sarah Gadon for instance, is what Lissa should look like. I think you're casting is off, looking at your past movie experience as well, I think you probably should've let Richelle pick people. Absolutely not looking forward to this movie now, which sucks because I've been eagerly anticipating it for years now. Rereading the novels as the years past. Well good luck, it'll probably flop.
DeleteI have many reason's to disagree with you and the first one is that Sarah Gadon is a horrible choice for Lissa. Lissa is a MOROI you have to think about that, she maybe soft but she had to have a model's body and has to pretty, which Sarah isn't. Lucy has everything that a moroi need, of course my choice was someone better like claire holt, but we can't have all who we want. But I've seen Lucy act and if she dances, I really hope not, then she'll do an awesome job.
DeleteReally looking forward to seeing her as Lissa. Go Lucy!
ReplyDeleteI think she'll be great! I can't wait to see her acting! I'm sure I won't be disappointed :)
ReplyDeleteShe will "Shine" in this role. No Doubt.
ReplyDeleteBut who will be Christian!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget she's a model and Moroi body types are very model-esque
ReplyDeleteI hate Lissa Dragomir from the first Vampire Academy book. I hope Lucy changes all that for me, but I doubt it.
ReplyDeleteNot at all. I'm not trying to be mean here, but what are these casting people thinking? I'am almost as disappointed with this choice as I'am with the actress they chose to play Rose. I hope this girl can act because later on in the series Lissa gets pretty intense. At least they got Dimitri right. Danila will be awesome.
ReplyDeleteWhy her? I mean she is pretty and all but just not Lissa. She should have a finer jaw and be more elegant in general. It's so disappointing to see her face as Lissa's when I've always imagined someone way more beautiful. I'm not trying to be mean but I'm just really really devastated by the choice. Why not pick someone with finer features? It wouldn't be that hard...
ReplyDeletethink so too...
DeleteI SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO AGREE WITH YOUUU!!!! I have been trying to say this from the beginning, but of course I get these super blind fans who think everything the director does is perfect. Well it's not, she's supposed to be wayy more beautiful than Rose, and Zoey is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS. It's not going to work, it's going to completely ruin the series. Lissa is supposed to be beautiful and soft and gentle and just absolutely stunning, and SADLY Zoey completely outshines Lucy in this category, and she's absolutely not supposed to. Rose's character I actually think is perfect, but they seriously should've cast a different Lissa, go look at Sarah Gadon or Candice Accola, they're both beautiful with soft features. IF we wanted to shoot a little prettier but older Helena Mattsson is a perfect example of what Lissa would look like older, Diana Agron or Brittany Snow would've been great for her character as well. I honestly think hollywood ruins many many novels when they hit theaters.
DeleteListen you can't have everything the way you guys want it. It's not about how 'perfect' she looks for the role. It's about if she can act and I've seen her act and she's good. Are zoey and Lucy my first choices? No, but no one is because no one looks exactly the way I imagined them too, the same with the rest of you. They picked someone who looked like Bella in twilight and she was by the far the worst actress I've ever seen before in my life. So go ahead and bash on the cast, but what you closed minded people don't understand is, these people are truly committed to their roles. Lucy WRITES poetry about her being Lissa. Zoey is in training six days a week and has some serious muscle now! Zoey reposts fan pictures and Lucy is beautiful. So what if she's not your perfect Lissa? You can't always have it your way! I like these acting choices, not because they fit the image I had in mind, but because they can act and they are truly committed to their roles. And it's not like they don't have makeup and hair you blubbering idiots. Now be quiet I'm trying to rave about how awesome the movie is going to be. (BTW we're not super blind fans who are going with everything the director says. First off, the director didn't make these choices so get your facts straight. Secondly, the actresses you named are way too old for the part and they would be in their early to mid thirties before the end of the series. Do you want an old-wrinkly lissa? No, so stop being a prick about it)Also Richelle likes the casting choices.
Delete@Chel
DeleteThis has nothing to do with closed-mindedness but with the way a cast can ruin your OWN imagination of the characters. And I don't care if Richelle likes her because it's MY opinion and I don't see her fit. And yes, she is a good actress and always very committed to her roles but that doesn't make her a "perfect" Lissa as well. And maybe you should stop bitching towards the people who don't like her because you are a "blubbering idiot" yorself for not accepting other opinions except your own. And no makeup on earth can erase her jaw and make her fine-featured. You like her? Good for you because she's great but some people might not see her as Lissa. And btw nobody said anything against Zoey so before you start whining how everyone is against the whole cast YOU should get your facts straight. And I didn't say that the movie isn't going to be awesome because it will be but FOR NOW I'm/we're disappointed and it is our right to be when we think she does not fit so well. And before you call anyone "closed minded" look at yourself because you are worse than anyone who wrote something here. We said it's OUR opinion and we can say it whenever we want. We didn't start bitching in your direction so YOU should really work on yourself to be more openminded and try to wrap your head around the idea that there are people who have a different opinion than you and still are right. And if you can't then life with it yourself and don't start offending others!
I don't think that she is the perfest Lissa. There are ten times better actrises that can play her and Lucy Fry is not one of them. She is too happy and...not Lissa alike. I am disapointed for Rose, because Zoey Douch isn't good for the role, it is Sophia Bush, and now I am terrified from this Lissa. Couldn't they choose someone better?
ReplyDeleteI think that Lucy fray is teribble as Lissa. She doesent looks sweet and brave at least she does not even lokk pretty. Mabye shes model but that just says that shes got a great body but her face is much more important because she have to show much intensive expressions. Iam sure there would be many actress how would had been a much better choice than lucy fray.
ReplyDeleteblood sisters is a stupid name, and i dont care that they are making a movie, im excited about that. but they better get it right ad not screw it up!
ReplyDeleteI am disappointed with this choice for lissa... Lucy is nice n all but not a dragomir princess... i hope she will prove me wrong when acting! I just hope this film is gonna work out cuz its gonna be devastating if they get it wrong!!!
ReplyDeleteIf you seen her as on the show Alien Surf girls you can see her with many emotions. A bitch, hurt, determined and sweet. She'll be an awesome actress<3 Haters will hate but they don't know the true character of Lucy <3 And she's a model and AUSSIE!! Ugh, just shut up the choice was already made so suck. u,u
